S4C finally got round to showing LOTL in the small hours of this week
and I have taped and watched it. Didn't see much to raise my eyebrows
about. I did take note of the farmer and consultant filling in the SAF.
It seems that the Welsh Assembly has taken a minimalist approach to the
rules, as they claim. Most of the questions don't appear on our
version. I took note of the reactions over the Soil Record. I also
noted that the FDS booklet seemed to be in A4 portrait form whereas the
Assembly version is in landscape, 18 columns and 8 rows. I returned 148
rows plus a field maintenance booklet.

Anyone know why they are so anxious about losing permanent pasture?

Not really sure of what you are asking about, but the authoriies
here are starting to regard plowing up permanent as releasing large
amounts of nutrients down into the water table. Next week, they will
have some other hobbyhorse to play on.

From SAF rules booklet:

EC requires Member States to ensure the proportion of land in PP does
not decrease by more than 10 pc. Baseline being 2003 IACS returns.
